As soon as we open the package and take the cam in hand, we are struck by the shape, trapezoidal. An intelligent choice, which allows this cam to give little hassle to the visual. The materials of this Alfawise MB05 are of quality, a rigid black plastic solid to the touch.
On the front of this cam there’s a 2.4″ LCD display, and below ther are 4 control buttons to navigate menu and select options: record, menu, left, right. On the left side there’s a power button, 3 leds and a micro sd card slot. On the right, the micro usb port, a reset button and AV interface.
Included in the package you will find everything you need to use the cam immediately – but the micro sd -, car charger, 3.5m usb cable, double sided tape, 2 transparent stickers for the display and the user’s manual.
Alfawise MB05 performance
Alfawise MB05 dashcam features a Sony Exmor IMX323 image sensor and a Novatek 96658 chipset, this allows this cam to record videos at 1080p@30fps videos or 720p@60fps resolutions. The lens is a 170° fisheye, so the cam can see up to 4 road lanes, and there are no dead zones. One peculiarity is the diaphragm, it has a F/1.4 aperture that allows a great amount of light to enter the lens and reach the sensor, and this is very useful in low light conditions, so that the details are very good even at night, making this cam better than a great cam as Xiaomi Mijia 4K in these conditions.
The cam needs a micro SD card up to 32GB. You can watch the recorded videos on the display of the cam, or on your phone using the Luckycam app, as the cam is equipped with wifi.
Video test at night
I attached the cam to my windshield, and shot this video test at night. As you can see the result is pretty good, even when there are no ambient lights, but the car lights, we can see everything around the car, and the details are good. The audio is pretty decent too, we can clearly hear the radio and my voice when I speak.
User experience
On the first utilization, you just need to set up some parameters and you’re good to go. The large 2.4-inch LCD screen makes it easy to activate functions, change settings and adjust the microphone, and play back photos and videos. There are many languages available, so menus are easy to understand and use. This dashcam is extremely easy to use, a button is used to record / stop movies, one to enter the menu, two fronts to move around in the menu.
When you plug the charger into the lighter socket of your car, and turn on the car, the cam will turn on and start recording, and when you turn the car off the cam will stop recording and turn off, so you’ll never miss an event while you’re driving.
The camcorder records looped footage, in files of 3/5/10 minutes, which will be overwritten one at a time when the card is full, without needing to replace it. In this way with a single card it is possible to record hours and hours of videos, which if they do not interest us will be overwritten. But in the event of an accident, a gravity sensor detects the incident and protects the files in which the incident is located, preventing them from being erased. You can also lock manually a footage of your interested, and that video can’t be erased by the cam unless you unlock it.
In addition, thanks to a motion sensor, the Alfawise MB05 can monitor your car while it is parked, activating and recording automatically if it detects movement in front of the car within a radius of 10 meters. In this case it is possible to record any incidents that occurred in our absence or theft.
